Teens in AI is looking for people who are passionate about helping young people develop the skills, confidence and critical thinking needed to become responsible creators with AI. Through the GAIT2027 campaign, the organisation is recruiting Local Ambassadors who will bring the experience to young people in their own communities.

Who can apply

The call is open to:

  • students (secondary school, high school or university);
  • teachers;
  • anyone seeking to inspire their local community.

Interested candidates are invited to tell Teens in AI more about themselves by completing the application form.

Core commitments

Local Ambassadors help bring the GAIT2027 experience to young people in their local community. They work with Teens in AI to plan and deliver a Local AI Design Sprint, where participants come together to learn, collaborate and develop AI-powered solutions to real-world challenges.

As a Local Ambassador, each participant is expected to:

  • plan and run a techathon event, typically lasting two days (with some flexibility for teachers working in schools), with an agenda focused on teaching students about technology and ethical AI;
  • gather a team of three to six organisers to support the event;
  • find and recruit teens aged 12–18 who will benefit from the programme, at least 50% of whom must be girls from government or community schools;
  • find mentors to inspire the cohort of teens.

The techathon can be delivered in person or online. Teens in AI will support and guide Local Ambassadors at every step of the planning process.

  • Virtual Panel: 8 March 2027
  • Global Demo Day: 22 April 2027

Application deadline

Applications are open until 30 October 2026. All selected applicants will be invited to an information session during the week after the deadline.

Time commitment

Serving as a Local Ambassador for the Teens in AI Global AI Techathon requires a significant time commitment. Teens in AI estimates that Local Ambassadors will spend at least five hours per week planning their local techathon, with the workload increasing in the weeks leading up to the event. However, a strong local team allows the time and work to be shared among its members.
